Intro
Nothing but Nada. Nada but techno.
NĀDA was a grassroots collective of techno DJs that put out small events in London. It started as a group of Portuguese friends who were looking for a place to play music, and it grew to become a regular party that prioritised giving emerging DJs in the scene a chance to play to an audience.
The process
Coming from nothing
In hinduism, NĀDA represents a primordial sound or vibration that functions as a connection between individuals and ultimate consciousness. 'Nada' also translates to 'nothing' in Portuguese; so the branding was heavily inspired by the concept of nothingness in space. The logo is a direct reference to the NASA logo.
To contrast with this, the surrounding graphics use a lot of overlays of textures from nature and urban spaces.
The outcome
Building community
NĀDA had a total of 17 events, various live stream sessions during the pandemic, and a podcast, NĀDACAST.
It was truly a labour of love - an independent collective that over time built a small community of emerging DJs and party goers.
